Partner Bob
Harrison is the tough courtroom litigator attorneys turn
to when they need a trial victory. Bob Harrison is a
figure that looms large in the metro Detroit legal
community.
A veteran trial lawyer, Harrison has built a
reputation as a knowledgeable litigator, fierce
opponent, and respected adversary. So much so that he
has earned the ultimate compliment - being known as
"a lawyer's lawyer." When other attorneys have
a personal interest in a case, or a difficult case that
needs to be tried, Bob Harrison is often their first
call when stakes are highest.
"One of my greatest joys in practicing law is
when I am asked to handle a trial that is destined to be
an uphill battle," says Harrison. "I enjoy
putting my trial skills to work for those cases that
others have deemed too complex or difficult to
win."
Developing those renowned trial skills has been a
work-in-progress since Harrison graduated from Wayne
State University Law School in 1967. After a three-year
stint as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the Wayne
County Prosecutor's Office, where he was selected to
prosecute many of the most important cases, Harrison has
spent the next quarter century in private practice. His
expertise throughout his private practice has been
white-collar criminal defense, but he also specializes
in civil matters, complex commercial litigation, high
asset divorce law, and serious injury or death injury
litigation.
Throughout his many years of practicing law, Harrison
has represented thousands of clients. The States of
Michigan and Alabama, as well as numerous
municipalities, labor organizations and police
organizations, are among his past clients. He was
engaged to defend several high-profile business figures,
including the former head of purchasing for General
Motors.
Reflecting upon the varied experiences he has
encountered in his practice, Harrison identifies a
common thread. "Just as our society constantly
evolves; the practice of law is ever-changing in ways
that are relevant to our lives. It is dynamic and always
keeps me engaged. It has been my life's work and I love
being part of it."
Yet, after all these high-profile trials, Harrison
shows no sign of slowing down. "I enjoy what I do.
It is my profession, and I am committed to my
clients," he says. As Managing Partner of
Bloomfield Hills-based Robert Harrison and Associates,
PLC, he looks forward to continuing his practice.
"After all these centuries, the United States legal
system sets the example for justice to the rest of the
world. It is a thrill to be part of it."
